Do you order a coffee to take away on the way to work every morning because you just don't have time to drink one at home?

Many commuters are in the same situation, without a coffee mug ... But did you know that disposable coffee cups are an ecological disaster? Indeed, they are composed of several materials that are recycled differently. Their overall treatment is therefore difficult, and many cities do not have the necessary infrastructure for sorting the plastic and paper components of the cup. This can all be changed by using a coffee mug .

To remedy this recycling problem, some countries, such as Great Britain, want to impose a tax on consumers who choose to drink their coffee in a disposable cup. Paying 25 cents more per coffee is expensive, especially if you have one every day. The solution is therefore to bring your own reusable container! In addition to being more ecological, the transportable coffee mug is more practical than a paper cup, which is easily knocked over and does not keep your coffee hot for very long...

But finding the right insulated coffee mug for your daily use is not an easy task. Especially since the offer is vast. So in this article, we talk about 4 criteria for choosing your reusable coffee cup :-).

The sealing of your insulated mug

This is probably the most difficult feature to check when buying a coffee mug and sometimes you have to trust the brand that promises you that its product is leak-proof. But three days later, the stains on your jacket prove otherwise. It's a legitimate expectation for a coffee mug that's supposed to hold liquid... So to make sure your coffee won't leak into your bag, choose one of our coffee mugs

Heat resistance

One of the significant advantages of the travel coffee mug over the paper cup is that it keeps your drink hot for several hours. Instead of gulping down your coffee in a hurry on the subway (before getting bumped into and spilling it completely), you can enjoy your caffeine fix all morning. Finally, if it is insulated, because a hard plastic coffee mug will not keep your drink hot. Which brings us to the next point...

The material of manufacture

The material your coffee mug is made from will make all the difference on these temperature issues. Glass or stainless steel, it doesn't matter. The important thing is that there is a double wall with a gap between the two which will serve to stop the transfer of heat within the coffee mug which occurs in particular in a single-walled plastic container.

For purists, the glass container will prevail because it preserves the aromas of the coffee, unlike the rather classic stainless steel in a coffee mug which can alter the flavors by giving it a metallic aftertaste. On the other hand, when it comes to product durability, stainless steel wins because glass breaks. Finally, note that a travel mug made of aluminum ( coffee mug) or plastic is not necessarily the best solution for your health, because particles of metal or plastic can detach from the internal wall and end up in your stomach with the coffee you ingest.

The size

Size is also a key factor in your choice of coffee mug . First, you need to pay attention to how many ml your portable cup can hold, then its weight (directly influenced by its capacity). If you are a small coffee drinker, choose the small coffee mug sizes (250ml maximum). If, on the contrary, you drink caffeine all day, opt for a larger coffee mug (500 or 750ml), to avoid trips to the machine ;-). Attention: the double wall of insulated coffee mugs makes them heavier than a bottle of water which weighs only a few grams and whose weight depends almost solely on the content it contains.
