You think you can only buy bowls at poke than in a restaurant? Think twice! This recipe for poke bowl is so easy to make at home, and once you've made it you'll never be able to order it in a restaurant again.

Our version of the recipe for poke bowl is made with tuna ahi , sticky brown rice, crunchy carrots and cucumbers, edamame , lots of avocados and of course, lots of mayonnaise spicy. It's the perfect combination of sweet , salty , spicy , crunchy and sticky!

The beauty of this recipe poke bowl is that it is totally customizable . Do you like salmon? Use that instead. You don't like them edamame ? Don't use it. No problem. Of course, I think the combination of OUR recipe is the ultimate bowl to poke , so here it is.

What is a poke bowl "?

If you're not sure what a " poke bowl ", in its simplest definition, is diced raw fish . This is why almost all the recipes of poke bowl you see call for fish dice. There most of the time, the poke is simply served as a starter with the fish itself, but here we've turned it into a full meal with the addition of rice and vegetables.

A poke Is Bowl healthy?

Ours is! The only fats in this recipe poke bowl are avocado, which is a heart-healthy fat, and mayonnaise, which is used in moderation. The tuna Ahi itself contains some fat, but again, it's a good fat for you. We also opt for brown rice rather than white rice or noodles, so you get a healthy dose of fiber.

Ingredients of the recipe poke bowl

  • You want to find sushi-grade ahi tuna. If you are unsure, ask your fishmonger.

  • The "sauce" for the tuna haha is quite simple And, I guess, things you already have in your fridge . You will need tamari (soy sauce also works) , sesame oil, honey and rice vinegar. If you want something a little spicier in addition to the mayonnaise spicy, you can add a little sriracha .

  • You can use whatever you like, but my favorite combination is an assortment of shredded carrots, diced cucumbers, and edamame . I love the crunch and texture of these three vegetables, and they are all different sizes, which is a nice variation in texture.

  • No recipe for poke bowl isn't complete without a little avocado!

  • For me, there is no difference between the complete mayo and the mayonnaise lightweight, so that's what I'm using here. A little of mayo , we just have to drizzle the tops of the tuna bowls haha with mayonnaise spicy.

  • As I said before, you can use a bit of sriracha in the tuna ahi , but we really need it for the spicy mayonnaise. We use one teaspoon per quarter cup of mayo , but if you want it hotter, add more.

  • Green onion and black sesame seeds. These are our toppings and they add a really nice visual, but if you don't have them feel free to leave them out.

  • Brown rice. You can use a variety of things for these bowls. poke , but to keep things healthy I like to use brown rice. I have a rice maker, so it makes perfect rice every time, but if you don't have one, you can also buy a carton of your favorite brown rice from your local Chinese restaurant.

  1. Use a sharp knife to dice the tuna. Add the tuna , soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar and honey to a medium bowl. Mix. Let the tuna rest while you prepare the rest of the ingredients.
  2. Add mayo and sriracha to a bowl. Stir to mix. Season with salt and pepper. Coming soon in a zipper bag. Cut the tip.

  3. Divide the cooked rice among four bowls. Place the tuna on part of the rice. Surround with a pile of cucumber, edamae and carrot. Spread half an avocado on top of the bowl. Pour the spicy mayonnaise over the bowl. Sprinkle with green onion and sesame seeds.
