Better known as “Thermos”, which is actually one of the best brands, an insulated bottle is a container that is optimally designed to keep the temperature of the liquid it contains. An insulated bottle keeps a liquid at a temperature close to its initial temperature. It is also considered in thermodynamics as an approximation of an isolated system.
Called Dewar vase or Arsonval vase after its inventors who improved the double-walled glass insulated bottle with an internal vacuum, the first commercial use of this household object occurred in 1904 when the German company Thermos was founded. Dewar having failed to register a patent for his invention, Thermos files a patent. James Dewar loses the lawsuit claiming his rights as an inventor.
To be effective, an insulated bottle must take into account the dispersion of temperature: by thermal conduction: following the principle of the Dewar vessel, the bottle is imprisoned in another bottle, with a minimum of contact;
by convection: the two embedded bottles are separated by vacuum;
by electromagnetic radiation: the wall of the inner bottle is reflective. This is how an insulated bottle is designed.
